ROARship King
Jesus:
by Mike Gates - Jan. 2008
Scripture:
Psalm 47:1-7 Clap your hands, all you
nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome is the LORD Most High, the
great King over all the earth! He subdued nations under us, peoples under our
feet. He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved. Selah
God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the LORD amid the sounding of trumpets.
Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For
God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.
The word ROARship was birthed out of a
vision God gave me for this generation. God is raising up a new generation of
radical prophetic singers, musicians, and worshippers. God wants to turn the
volume up and take worship to another level. God is calling this generation to
have a heart for “ROARship”.
Job 37:2-5 He unleashes his lightning
beneath the whole heaven and sends it to the ends of the earth. After that comes
the sound of his roar; He thunders with His majestic voice. When His voice
resounds, He holds nothing back. God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; He does
great things beyond our understanding.
ROARship is not a style of music, it is a LIFEstyle. It is to have a heart to
hear the sound of His roar, His majestic voice. To make a joyful noise, a noise
covered with an anointing to pierce the heart. To be saturated by His glory. To
become a living habitation of His presence, a dwelling place. It’s about
worshippers who do not seek after perfection but instead to be willing hearts
that will worship King Jesus whether anyone else around them is worshipping or
not! Worship is not to be a show, but to allow Gods glory to be shown.
A Sweet Aroma:
A couple of months ago, my family and I went to the local sub shop for dinner.
After leaving the restaurant, we went to church for our weekly youth service.
When we got to the church I noticed how I smelled just like the sub shop. No
matter if you’re at a sub shop, pizza shop, .etc you tend to leave smelling like
the place you were in.
God wants our worship to be a sweet fragrance to His nostrils. When His
anointing fills the room, along with His presence comes His fragrance. God wants
us to smell like Him, like His presence. So when we leave the holy of holies,
people will know that we were in the house of the Lord, because of His sweet
aroma.
An Increase in Gifts and Talents:
When you have a heart for Roarship, God will increase your gifts and talents all
to be used for His glory. I’ve been playing guitar for over 4 years now. For the
past 2 years I’ve been frustrated with my basic skill level. I couldn’t break
beyond the basics of playing music. I wanted to learn how to play worship songs.
I had a desire to do worship music because of the passion God placed in my heart
to glorify Him. I was in a rut and didn't know how to get out. I needed to have
a “new experience” to “re-ignite” my passion to play guitar.
Finally I found someone who would take time to show me how to read a worship
chord sheet. I knew how to play the chords, but just couldn’t get the rhythm
part down. Later that night I sat down and started to practice. Within 48 hours
God accelerated me out of my rut. What happens every time you learn something
new? Your desire to know more increases. There’s a sense of new birth to
accomplish your goals and the desires that God puts in you. After a week of this
acceleration, not only can I now read chord sheets, but I also learned how to do
key changes and am learning lead parts.
God wants to meet the desires of your heart. If your desire is to glorify Him,
that desire came from Him. It’s that desire that He births inside of you,
waiting to flourish, waiting to breathe life. With that desire comes the
boldness to use your gifts without fear of negativity, without fear of what
others think. All that matters is what God thinks of you.
With this new generation of ROARshippers, the days of perfection, the days of
showmanship, the days of performance will be transformed into a spirit of making
a joyful noise. It won’t matter if your off beat, it won’t matter if you miss a
note, it won’t matter if you sing off key, because your only focus is being in
His presence. No matter how our praises sound, it’s sweet music to His ears.
Take Me In, the Power of Your Words:
On Nov. 7th Kim and I had the opportunity to lead our youth worship team at
church. I was nervous at first because this was my first time playing guitar
with a group. Our regular worship leader wanted to take a break for a few weeks.
The youth at our church love to hear worship music, they love to hear the word,
so Kim and I stepped up to the plate to fill the need. I figure since God
accelerated the gift He put in me, then I need to share that gift with others.
We practiced with the team for a few nights. The practices were awesome and you
could feel God’s anointing in the room. One of the songs we did was called “Take
Me In”, that song became our heart cry "Lord, take me in to the holy of holies,
here I am"! God is going to hold us accountable to the decrees we sing out of
our mouths on Sunday morning. Do we fully believe in our heart what we sing
about when it comes to God and His blessings? Do we worship God from our heart,
or do we just worship Him to lyrics projected on a screen?
It’s time to unwrap the gift that God has placed in
you:
A couple of months prior to learning how to do worship music, one night I cried
out to God to give me wisdom and revelation to worship Him through song. God
gave me a vision and I saw the hand of God place a box inside of my heart. The
box looked like a wrapped present with a big bow around it. I knew that God
didn’t put that gift in my heart for no reason. There was a need for Kim and I
to help lead worship at our church. But with every good and perfect gift that
God places inside of us, there’s an action on our part to open up that gift. God
gives us gifts to share with others, to glorify Him with.
Are you holding back from operating in the gifts and talents that God has placed
in you? Because of fear and anxiety? Unwrap those gifts so that the world may be
blessed as you glorify His name.
Music soothes the savage beast and speaks life too!:
Imagine for a moment, people gifted in music by God that will prophetically
speak through an instrument. To hear each note become alive to the listener.
Music that tears down walls and restores broken hearts. That people will hear
the thunders of God through pounding drums and see His lightning through
electric guitars. God is raising up this new ROARship generation to speak life
through music.
ROARship Him and hear His mighty roar!:
If you’ve been holding back gifts God placed in you for His glory, then just
surrender totally to Him. God will help you overcome any obstacle that is
hindering you from stepping out in faith. If you’ve been in a “rut” with your
relationship with the Father, then just ask Him for a new experience. God wants
to re-ignite your passion for Him. Become a ROARshipper to King Jesus!
